Many companies do it: they use "deals" to entice customers, but the customers they've had for years pay through the roof. Wouldn't it be better to keep loyal customers than gain new ones? The main issue being that some of these folks have a lock on business. They're far too happy to lose you, because they essentially know they won't. I do not understand this. But they have me by the (virtual) cajones even so, because I have had the same e-mail address for four years now, and it would be a huge pain to get rid of it. I looked into changing, because I hardly need my landline--but the $60 a month I pay for phone & DSL is about the same as what I would pay for any of the alternatives. if you have a laptop, you can buy a card for it that is similar to wi-fi, but gives you internet connection all the time. at least, I think you can?!
